When I was a kid, “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory” was one of my favorite movies. Gene Wilder was fantastic in the leading role – as Willy Wonka, the eccentric candy inventor, looking for a child who was honest, loving, kind and generous, to become his heir and learn how to run his chocolate factory. The movie featured the hit song, Pure Imagination, which continues to inspire new generations of children and adults. Play the video below, and the lyrics follow beneath. PTD
Pure Imagination – Music & Lyrics
By Leslie Bricusse and Anthony Newley
Ladies and gentlemen
Boys and girls
The chocolate room.
Hold your breath
Make a wish
Count to three
Come with me
And you’ll be
In a world of pure imagination
Take a look and you’ll see
Into your imagination
We’ll begin with a spin
Travelling in the world of my creation
What we’ll see will defy explanation
If you want to view paradise
Simply look around and view it
Anything you want to, do it
Wanna change the world?
There’s nothing to it.
There is no life I know
To compare with pure imagination
Living there you’ll be free
If you truly wish to be
If you want to view paradise
Simply look around and view it
Anything you want to do it
Wanna change the world
There’s nothing to it
There is no life I know
To compare with pure imagination
Living there you’ll be free
If you truly wish to be.
